Where to eat pizza in Naples
This shortlist agrees with every pizzeria verdict on this site, because it is built from them. Each place below has its own page with the prices we could read on September 30, 2026, its closing day and a plain verdict. Seven are worth your time, some only at the right hour or for the right dish. One famous name on Via dei Tribunali is not.
Prices first, because they vary more than you would think. Dissapore put the old-town margherita at €6 to €7 in March 2026 and €8 to €9 in Vomero, Chiaia and Posillipo. On this list the margherita runs from €6.50 at Da Michele to €12 at Concettina ai Tre Santi, and most places add a cover charge. If you eat only two pizzas in Naples, make one a margherita at a historic room and one a marinara, which shows off the dough with nothing to hide behind.

Classic margherita and marinara
Da Michele, Via Cesare Sersale 1, is the cheapest of the famous names: four pizzas, all €6.50, plus €1 cover, on the menu dated July 2026. It opens 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. You take a numbered ticket at the door and wait for your number, so the queue is orderly, but at 8 p.m. on a Saturday it is long. Arrive near opening or mid-afternoon.
50 Kalò, Piazza Sannazaro 201/b in Mergellina, is No. 5 on 50 Top Pizza Italia 2026 and No. 14 in the world list. It publishes no price list; a 2023 review paid €7.50 for a buffalo margherita and a 2026 food-tour guide puts it near €10. Sannazaro takes no bookings: you leave your name and are called back. If you want a fixed time, the Piazza della Repubblica 2 branch takes reservations.
Sorbillo, Via dei Tribunali 32, is good pizza in a loud, cramped room. The €5.50 marinara is a bargain. It is closed on Sunday and does not book: give your name at the door. A reviewer waited about 30 minutes on a weekday evening in July 2026. At peak hours, Da Michele or Attilio will feed you sooner.
Da Attilio, Via Pignasecca 17, sits inside the street market off Via Toledo. The eight-pointed star pizza with ricotta in each point is the thing to order (€10 for the Appennini star in April 2025). Two small rooms, basic toilets: come for lunch after the Quartieri Spagnoli or the market, not for a long dinner.
Pizza fritta and the montanara
Pizza fritta belongs in a fry shop. At La Masardona's original counter, Via Giulio Cesare Capaccio 27 near the station, the completa with provola, ricotta, cicoli and pepper costs €6, or €3.50 as a small battilocchio. The Piazza Vittoria branch in Chiaia charges €9 and €4.50 for the same thing. The family publishes no hours; in 2022 the original was listed as closed on Sunday and shut by 3:30 p.m. most days, so treat it as a lunch stop on a Pompeii or station day.
Starita a Materdei, Via Materdei 27/28, is the reason to learn the word montanara: dough fried, topped with ragù, smoked provola and pecorino, then finished in the oven. The Montanara Starita costs €8.50 and a plain montanarina €1.50. It opens Tuesday to Sunday, noon to 3:30 p.m. and 7 to 11:30 p.m.
Concettina ai Tre Santi in the Rione Sanità charges €18 for a fried pizza served in three pieces: split it two or three ways and it is fair. At €12 for a margherita that reviewers found uneven in April 2026, the classic pizzas are better value almost anywhere else. It is the one pizzeria here that books by phone (+39 081 290037).
Sorbillo also sells a Zia Esterina fried pizza for €7 at counters on Via dei Tribunali 35, Piazza Trieste e Trento and Piazzetta Nilo. Add a frittatina for €2 to €2.50 to any of these.
The ranked names of 2026
50 Top Pizza Italia 2026 put Palazzo Petrucci Pizzeria, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore 5, at No. 3 in Italy, with 50 Kalò at No. 5, La Notizia at No. 12 and Salvo at No. 24. Da Attilio, Starita and Concettina are among its Pizzerie Eccellenti. The pizzeria at Palazzo Petrucci takes bookings; we could not read its prices. Do not confuse it with the Palazzo Petrucci restaurant in Posillipo, which lost its Michelin star in 2025 and which we skip at €100 to €150 a head.
None of these pizzerias holds a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand. Da Michele, Sorbillo, 50 Kalò and Concettina are listed in the 2026 guide as recommended.
How the queues work
- Numbered ticket: Da Michele. Take one, stay within earshot, wait for your number.
- Name at the door: Sorbillo (Tribunali) and 50 Kalò (Sannazaro, with a callback).
- Walk in and wait: Starita and Attilio. No reservations.
- Bookable: Concettina ai Tre Santi by phone; 50 Kalò at Piazza della Repubblica; Palazzo Petrucci Pizzeria.
- Nothing to book: La Masardona is a counter with a few tables.
Whether the famous queues are worth it at all is the subject of our queue verdict. Short version: go at opening or mid-afternoon, and on Sunday or Monday check the closing days above.
What we would skip
Pizzeria Di Matteo, Via dei Tribunali 94, has the history but, in a detailed Dissapore review from June 2024, tired fried food, ordinary pizza and prices no longer cheap. If you are passing and hungry, a fried pizza from its street window is fine; Sorbillo's Zia Esterina counter or La Masardona do it better. Skip the Pizza Village as a reason to travel too: in 2026 it moved to the seafront at Pozzuoli, and the same pizzaioli serve better pizza in their own rooms.
