Da Attilio

Margherita €6.50, star pizzas €10 Closed Sunday Via Pignasecca 17

Da Attilio is at Via Pignasecca 17, inside the Pignasecca, the old street market that runs from Via Toledo up toward Montesanto. Attilio Bachetti runs the oven. The house invention is a star-shaped pizza with eight points, each folded around fresh ricotta, with the toppings in the center. In the Carnevale version the middle is a margherita made with San Marzano tomato, fior di latte and a mix of 24-month parmesan and pecorino.

Prices are close to the old-town floor. When Scatti di Gusto reviewed it in April 2025, a margherita cost €6.50, a capricciosa and a diavola €8, and the Appennini star pizza €10. Dissapore lists it as open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner and closed on Sunday.

The star pizza

The star is a round pizza whose edge is cut and folded into eight points, with fresh ricotta and fior di latte from Vico Equense sealed inside each point. The ricotta bakes into the rim, and the middle carries the topping. Two versions appear in recent reviews:

  • Carnevale: margherita in the middle, ricotta in the points. €8 in 2023.
  • Appennini: the version Scatti di Gusto ordered in 2025, at €10.

Attilio's other signature is a Bottone, a marinara finished with pepper and grated cheese, at €5 in 2025. The reviewers called it the pizza of the night. Before the pizza, try the bacetti (€2): thin rolls of dough with rocket and ricotta.

What a meal costs

A 2023 Scatti di Gusto list had crocchè and arancini at €2, frittatine at €2.50 and the priciest pizza, the Pizza Attilio, at €12. The same list had a round ripieno and a Provolona at €10, a Pizza Pomod'oro at €8 and mozzarella in carrozza, fried in bread, at €7. Dissapore's 2023 review put the margherita at €5 and said the creative pizzas did not pass €10. By 2025 the margherita was €6.50. Two people with a starter, two pizzas and drinks should spend €25 to €35.

Dissapore was blunt about the room: a narrow entrance with steps, and toilets at the back of the third room that were not up to standard. The pizza is the reason to come, not the comfort. Scatti di Gusto describes the setup: the work bench and wood oven by the door, two small rooms behind, wooden tables, paper placemats and walls covered in customers' drawings. The menu comes on paper or by QR code.

Pairing it with the market

The Pignasecca is a working street market and, as Time Out puts it, one of the city's oldest open-air markets. Walk it in the late morning, then eat at Attilio at noon when the lunch service opens. It is a short walk from Via Toledo and the Montesanto funicular, and close to the Quartieri Spagnoli. The trattoria Nennella is nearby on Piazza Carità if you want pasta instead.
