Editorial standards
Official sources first, every figure dated, and a gap stated rather than filled.
Where the numbers come from
Ticket prices and opening hours come from the venue's own site: the state museums' pages for the MANN, Capodimonte and the Palazzo Reale, pompeiisites.org for Pompeii, the Herculaneum and Vesuvius parks' sites, the Cappella Sansevero and Pio Monte sites, and comune.napoli.it for the city's castles and monuments. Train, metro and bus fares come from ANM, EAV and Unico Campania; ferry fares from Caremar, NLG and the other operators. Food prices come from current menus. Every page lists its sources at the foot, with a note on what each one confirms.
Dates on every figure
Hours change with the season, museums close on different weekdays, ferries run winter timetables and many restaurants close one day a week and for part of August. We give the figure we saw and the date we saw it, and pages with dated facts carry an expiry date; after it, the page tells you to re-check the source.
What we do when a number is not published
We say so. Some bars do not publish prices, some churches publish no hours, and some operators only show a price after you pick a date. Where a trusted secondary source has the figure, we name that source and its date. We do not estimate a price and present it as fact.
Operator claims
We report what is true, not what a listing says. "Skip the line" on a ticket the park sells itself, a Blue Grotto "entry" that is really an entry fee plus a rowboat, and a landing fee quoted at double the official rate are claims, and our pages test them.
Verdicts
Every sight, area, hotel, restaurant, bar, dish, experience, event, walk and day trip carries a verdict: worth it, it depends, or skip. Verdicts are stored on the page's own record and collected on the Worth it? page. Affiliate products never change them.
Photographs
Every picture of a place is a real photograph from Wikimedia Commons, credited on the privacy page. Food and drink pictures are illustrations of the dish, as the credits explain. We never use a generated image of a real place, building, room or business.
