The best hotels in Naples
Every hotel below has its own page, and this guide agrees with each verdict. To compare like with like, we priced all of them on Kayak on September 30, 2026, for one night, two adults, on Wednesday, October 14 and Wednesday, November 11, 2026, with taxes and fees included. Mid-October is expensive everywhere: Hotel Piazza Bellini was €455 on the first date and €140 on the second.
Choose the area before the hotel. The Centro Storico is the best base for a first trip; the seafront if the view and easy walking matter more; Via Toledo and Municipio if you are taking island ferries. Our where to stay page covers each area in depth.

A first trip built around the old town
Decumani Hotel de Charme, in the 18th-century Palazzo Riario Sforza on Via San Giovanni Maggiore Pignatelli, is 6 minutes on foot from Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, with breakfast in a gilded salon. Book Comfort (16–25 m²) or Superior; the hotel itself calls the Economy rooms small. Costantinopoli 104, near the MANN, is calmer: 19 rooms, a garden pool and indoor parking at €35 a day, rare in the old town. It was full on October 14, so book early. Hotel Piazza Bellini is stylish and central at €140 to €335; at €455 in a peak week, look at the other two first. Its square's bars stay busy late; the hotel says every room is soundproofed.
A sea view without Vesuvio money
- Eurostars Hotel Excelsior, Via Partenope 48: the best-value seafront hotel we priced, €307 to €345 on the direct web rate, 10 minutes from Plebiscito. Breakfast is extra.
- NH Napoli Panorama, Via Medina 70: every room is on the 16th floor or higher, €183 to €225, 11 minutes from the ferries and 8 from Spaccanapoli. Take the room-only rate and have breakfast in a bar.
- Grand Hotel Santa Lucia: a good buy in quieter weeks, when €293 to €339 includes breakfast and free cancellation. In busy weeks the Excelsior next door undercuts it.
- Grand Hotel Vesuvio: worth it only in a room sold as sea view, €638 room only on our October date, about €140 more than the entry rate.
- Grand Hotel Parker's: the widest view, up on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and dinner at George. At €399 in November it makes sense for a special trip; it is 28 minutes on foot from Plebiscito.
- San Francesco al Monte: €255 in November for a sea-view room with breakfast, if you do not mind the climb back. Its rooftop pool is open only May 15 to September 25.
Island ferries, trains and Chiaia
For island days, stay near Molo Beverello. NH Napoli Panorama is 11 minutes away and Il Convento, Via Speranzella 137/a in the Quartieri Spagnoli, 15 minutes. Il Convento is our best value for walking to both the old town and the sea: standard doubles of 15 m² with a small balcony, 8 minutes from Plebiscito. Light sleepers should ask for a room off the lane. The Romeo is 6 minutes from Beverello, but €592 to €848 buys a view of the commercial port: skip it unless you are booking its Ducasse restaurant.
For early trains to Pompeii or a late arrival, Starhotels Terminus is across Piazza Garibaldi from Napoli Centrale and the Circumvesuviana. Book it for one or two nights; for a longer stay, sleep nearer the old town or the sea (see our station area page). Palazzo Caracciolo, 15 minutes from the station, charges what the seafront Excelsior charges and is 40 minutes on foot from Plebiscito: skip it unless you need the station or have a conference there.
For Chiaia's shops and evenings, Hotel Palazzo Alabardieri, Via Alabardieri 38, puts the aperitivo lanes on your doorstep at €324 to €390 with breakfast. For sightseeing, the Excelsior is closer to Plebiscito and cheaper room only.
Families and drivers
Il Convento has family rooms of 20 m² with a mezzanine for up to five, and Piazza Bellini lists family rooms for up to five and duplex studios. Families who want wide pavements and the flat seafront walk should look at the Via Partenope hotels. Avoid a base deep in the Quartieri Spagnoli lanes with small children or a stroller: steps and scooters. Our Naples with kids guide has the rest.
Drivers: Costantinopoli 104 has its own garage (€35 a day), San Francesco al Monte €40 a day, the Excelsior a partner garage at €30 or €50 by vehicle size, and Il Convento partner garages from €30. Decumani sits inside the old-town ZTL; hotels there can authorize your plate, so arrange it before you drive in. The Chiaia ZTL around Alabardieri runs 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.
The city tax, and when prices jump
Since May 1, 2026, Naples charges a tourist tax per person per night for guests over 14, for up to 14 nights: €6 at four- and five-star hotels and short lets, €5.50 at three-star hotels and B&Bs, €4.50 at two-star and €4 at one-star. Two adults in a four-star hotel pay €12 a night on top of the room. Kayak's totals include an estimate of it; check the line on your bill.
Book early for mid-October, Christmas and Easter, and expect high prices on the seafront during the America's Cup races: the Louis Vuitton Cup runs May 22 to July 4, 2027 and the Match July 10 to 18, 2027, with Via Caracciolo expected to close for about three months.
