Grand Hotel Vesuvio

From €492 a night for two Five-star luxury, since 1882 Via Partenope 45, seafront

The Grand Hotel Vesuvio has stood on Via Partenope 45 since 1882. The hotel calls itself the only five-star luxury hotel on the Naples seafront, and it faces Castel dell'Ovo and the Borgo Marinari across the road. On Kayak on September 30, 2026, a double for Wednesday, October 14, 2026 started at €492 with breakfast, non-refundable. For November 11 it was €501. Kayak's totals include taxes and fees, and the site says they include estimated local taxes payable at checkout.

That entry rate is for a Superior Queen room, and it is not sold as sea view. A double sold as sea view was €638 room only and non-refundable on both dates, or €757 with breakfast and free cancellation. The difference matters. You pay Vesuvio prices to look at the bay, so decide before you book whether you are paying for the view or just the address.

What the price buys

On the hotel's own site the list is short and solid: 160 rooms with 21 suites, two panoramic restaurants, the Caruso roof-garden restaurant named for the tenor who stayed here, a fitness club with an indoor pool, a bar, a garage and a chauffeur service. There is no outdoor pool. In October and November that matters less than it would in July.

The rates we saw on Kayak for one night, two adults:

Room and rateOctober 14, 2026November 11, 2026
Superior Queen, breakfast, non-refundable€492€501
Sea-view double, room only, non-refundable€638€639
Sea-view double, breakfast, free cancellation€757€757

Prices barely moved between the two dates. The hotel prices by room type far more than by season in autumn, so a cheaper week does not rescue the budget here.

The view question

Rooms at the front look over Via Partenope to Castel dell'Ovo, the marina and, on a clear day, Vesuvius and the Sorrento peninsula. That view is what you cannot get at a central hotel in the Centro Storico. If you book the entry rate, you may not get it. Ask the hotel in writing which way your room faces before you pay a non-refundable rate.

If you want the seafront but not the bill, compare the Eurostars Hotel Excelsior at number 48, which sold a room-only classic double for €307 to €345 on the same dates, and the Grand Hotel Santa Lucia at number 46. Neither is a five-star luxury hotel. Both put you on the same promenade.

Location: the seafront, not the old town

Using OpenStreetMap foot routing, the hotel is 11 minutes (850 m) from Piazza del Plebiscito, 21 minutes (1.6 km) from the ferries at Molo Beverello and 30 minutes (2.2 km) from Piazza del Gesu Nuovo, where Spaccanapoli begins. Napoli Centrale is 3.9 km (2.4 miles) away, about 51 minutes on foot, so take a taxi with your bags.

The walk to Plebiscito is flat and pleasant. The walk to the old town is not hard, but you will do it twice a day. This is a base for the Lungomare walk, Castel dell'Ovo and dinner in Chiaia, not for early starts at the Cappella Sansevero. See our Lungomare and Santa Lucia page for the area.

City tax, the car and the extras

Naples raised its tourist tax on May 1, 2026. At five-star hotels it is now €6 per person per night, charged to guests over 14, for up to 14 consecutive nights. The rate comes from the Comune di Napoli's own tax page. Two adults for three nights pay €36.

The hotel lists a garage and valet parking. It does not publish the price, so get it in writing. Via Partenope is not on the city's list of ZTL limited-traffic zones, but ask the hotel for the route to the door when you book.
