The room people remember is downstairs. Breakfast is served in a salon that belonged to the Riario Sforza family, with mirrors, stucco and reliefs in gold leaf. The hotel lists a continental buffet with Neapolitan pastries such as sfogliatelle and pastiera, plus buffalo mozzarella. From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. the Bar Sisto opens in the cardinal's room and on the terrace next to it.

Rooms come in three types. The hotel describes the Economy rooms as small; Comfort rooms run 16 to 25 m², Superior rooms 20 to 40 m², with antiques and Neapolitan tile. There is a lift. On November 11 the Comfort room cost less than the Economy room did in October, so check both categories on your dates.

Add the city tax of €6 per person per night, the rate for four-star hotels since May 1, 2026. Kayak lists the Decumani as four-star.

By OpenStreetMap foot routing, Piazza del Gesu Nuovo is 6 minutes (420 m) away, the hydrofoils at Molo Beverello 17 minutes (1.3 km), Piazza del Plebiscito 19 minutes (1.4 km) and Napoli Centrale 28 minutes (2.1 km). Cappella Sansevero, Santa Chiara and San Domenico Maggiore are all within a few minutes, and the decumani walk starts nearby. Line 1's Universita station, at Piazza Bovio, is the nearest metro.

The streets around the hotel are university streets: busy by day, lively in the evening, with scooters in narrow lanes. Our Centro Storico page covers noise and safety plainly.

The hotel is inside the old town's limited-traffic area. The city's Mezzocannone gate is active Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and from Friday to Sunday and on holidays from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. the next day. Hotel guests' cars are one of the categories the city allows, but the hotel has to register your plate. Email the plate number before you arrive, or better, leave the car at the airport and take a taxi.

First-time visitors who want to walk everywhere: the MANN, the churches of Spaccanapoli, pizza on Via dei Tribunali and the underground tours are all on foot. It suits couples and solo travellers better than families, since triples are the largest rooms we saw. It does not suit light sleepers who want silence at midnight or anyone who wants a sea view: for that, compare the Excelsior on the seafront.
