The Romeo, now branded ROMEO Napoli by The Romeo Collection, is a five-star design hotel at Via Cristoforo Colombo 45, the busy road that runs along the port. Its selling points are real: a rooftop infinity pool, a Sisley spa, and a restaurant run under Alain Ducasse on the ninth floor. So is its problem. The front rooms look over ferry terminals, cruise ships and traffic, not the Castel dell'Ovo postcard.
On Kayak on September 30, 2026, the cheapest double for October 14, 2026 was €848 with breakfast, non-refundable. For November 11 it was €592 for a Deluxe Front room with breakfast and free cancellation. Both totals include taxes and fees. On both dates the Romeo was dearer than the Grand Hotel Vesuvio on the seafront.

Il Comandante is gone: Ducasse replaced it
Older guides send you to Il Comandante, the Michelin-starred restaurant led by Salvatore Bianco. It no longer exists. According to Reporter Gourmet, it gave way in 2024 to Il Ristorante Alain Ducasse, which has since won a star. The Michelin Guide lists it with one star, on the ninth floor, under executive chef Alessandro Lucassino, and closed on Sundays and Mondays. Reporter Gourmet gives the two tasting menus as €270 and €305.
If that dinner is the point of your trip, sleeping here makes sense. If it is not, the hotel's main advantage shrinks to the pool and the location. Our restaurants team covers the city's starred tables on the restaurant shortlist.

The location: the ferries, not the view
This is the closest luxury hotel to Molo Beverello, the terminal for hydrofoils to Capri, Ischia and Procida: 6 minutes (470 m) on foot by OpenStreetMap routing. Piazza del Plebiscito is 12 minutes away and Piazza del Gesu Nuovo, the start of Spaccanapoli, 13 minutes. Napoli Centrale is 2.3 km (1.4 miles), about 30 minutes on foot, and Line 1's Municipio station is close by.
That is a very good position for a trip built on islands and the old town. It is a poor one if you pictured a sea view: the bay is there, but you see it past the port. Read our Via Toledo and Municipio page for what the streets around it are like at night.
Where the same money goes further
For about the same November price, Grand Hotel Parker's sold a double for €399 with the best view in the city, and the Vesuvio €501 on the seafront. If you want the ferries at your door for less, the NH Napoli Panorama on Via Medina is 11 minutes from Molo Beverello and sold room-only doubles for €183 to €225 on the same dates.
Who it suits
Guests who want a contemporary room rather than gilt and chandeliers, a spa day between sightseeing, and a starred dinner without a taxi home. Also travellers doing several island days, who will value walking to the hydrofoil in six minutes. It does not suit anyone for whom the sea view is the point, or anyone watching the budget: the same nights cost less at every other hotel on this list.
