Veritas
Veritas is a small restaurant at Corso Vittorio Emanuele 141, where the long panoramic road starts to climb toward the Vomero. It holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide. Chef Marco Caputi cooks Campanian flavors in contemporary form, and Michelin names two dishes: spaghetti with smoked butter, clams, pine nuts and lemon, and amberjack with celeriac, bay and helichrysum.
It is also the cheapest star in the city. The Saturday lunch menu costs €55 for bread and butter, two savory courses and a dessert. Diners under 35 can book a €60 "Funky" menu of three chef's-choice dishes. Dinner runs Monday to Saturday, 7:30 to 10 p.m., and the restaurant is closed on Sunday.

What the cooking is like
The restaurant says its menus are built on taste rather than a fixed structure: acidity, bitterness, umami, sweetness, fat. On the current Intenso menu that means dishes such as cold tubetti with celery, seafood and veal muzzle, or almond tortelli with rocket and white garlic. The Memorie menu holds the classics, including the clam spaghetto with smoked butter that Michelin singles out.
Michelin describes a warm, intimate room and a sommelier who steers you to small Campanian producers. The wine list favors small, artisan growers, described by the restaurant as ethical and sustainable.
Veritas or George?
George, a short walk away at Corso Vittorio Emanuele 135, has two stars and a terrace view of the bay; its menus cost €240 or €270. Veritas has one star, no view, and menus from €55. For cooking alone, Veritas is the better buy. For a celebration with the Gulf behind you, George wins. Palazzo Petrucci no longer has a star. See our restaurant shortlist for more.
