Capri

Two ports in Naples serve Capri: Calata Porta di Massa for Caremar's ferries and fast ferries, and Molo Beverello, by Piazza Municipio, for the jets. Here is what we found on the operators' own pages for early October 2026:

Coming back on the same sample day, Caremar's fast ferries left Capri for Naples at 10:20 a.m., 3:38 p.m. and 8:17 p.m., and NLG's last jet to Beverello at 6:45 p.m. Caremar's last boat to Sorrento left at 6:40 p.m. Caremar adds 12% (minimum €1) to tickets bought before the day of travel, and €1 per ticket online. NLG's summer timetable runs to November 3, 2026, after which, on last winter's pattern, it drops to four crossings each way. SNAV also sails from Molo Beverello. For one adult from Naples, in October, using public transport on the island:

• Return by Caremar ferry: €29.60. Return by NLG jet: €50.
• Landing contribution: €5 (it drops to €2.50 from November 1).
• Funicular up and down: €4.80. Two bus rides to Anacapri and back: €4.80.
• Villa Jovis €6, or the €12 Capri combined ticket for Villa Jovis, the Certosa and Casa Rossa.

That makes a cheap day about €50 before food and a comfortable one about €75. Add €18 at the Blue Grotto (the €6 entry plus the €12 rowboat) and a boat from Marina Grande to reach it if you want to see it. 1. Arrive before 10 a.m. and go straight up by funicular to the Piazzetta.
2. Walk to Villa Jovis, Tiberius's palace on the eastern cliff, about 45 minutes from the Piazzetta on footpaths. It opens at 10 a.m.
3. Back through town to the Gardens of Augustus for the view of the Faraglioni rocks, and the Certosa di San Giacomo next door.
4. Bus to Anacapri in the afternoon for Villa San Michele or the chairlift up Monte Solaro.
5. Down to Marina Grande for a boat after 5 p.m., when day-trippers have thinned.

If the sea is calm and you arrive early, the Blue Grotto is best first thing: it opens at 8:30 a.m. until October 15 and at 9 a.m. after that, and from October 16 it closes at 2 p.m.

Capri is busiest from late spring to September, when the queues for the funicular and the small island buses are the main time sink of a day trip. October is a good month: boats still run to the summer timetables until early November, and Villa Jovis stays open until 5 p.m. until October 15.

From November the island winds down. Boats are fewer and more often canceled in rough seas, and the landing contribution halves to €2.50. It is a quiet, cheaper time to walk, but plan for a boat that may not sail.

• Funicular Marina Grande to Capri town: €2.40, a few minutes, frequent.
• Buses from Marina Grande and Capri town to Anacapri, Marina Piccola and, from Anacapri, the Blue Grotto and the lighthouse: €2.40 a ride. The small buses fill quickly; queue early.
• On foot: Capri town is pedestrian. The path from the Piazzetta to Villa Jovis is about 45 minutes, uphill in places.
• Taxis wait at Marina Grande; agree the fare before you get in.

Deciding between islands? Read Capri, Ischia or Procida. Procida is smaller, cheaper and much quieter.

Sorrento: Exclusive Capri Boat Tour and Optional Blue Grotto

Not included, per the listing: the Capri landing and destination fee (€10), Blue Grotto entry (€18) and pickup (€5 each way). The grotto stop only comes with the early option.

Capri Blue Grotto Small-Group Boat Day Tour From Sorrento
