Pizza making class in Naples
A pizza class in Naples is two to three hours in a kitchen with an apron: you mix or stretch dough, top a margherita, watch it go into a hot oven and eat it. Most classes add tiramisu, a bruschetta starter and a drink. On GetYourGuide on September 30, 2026, prices ran from €21 for the largest group classes to €80 for a class with a local pizzaiolo, and €75–€104 in Sorrento.
Two words to read past: "official" and "certified". They are in the operators' own titles. No authority certifies a tourist pizza class; the pizza napoletana rules are written by the AVPN, an association, and a class certificate is a souvenir. That does not make the classes bad. It means you should choose on group size, oven and who teaches.

What the most-booked class includes
The class with the most reviews is run by an operator called Naples bay tour in its "Cooking Lab" kitchen in central Naples; the exact location comes with the booking. Its listing includes:
- Instruction on dough and tomato sauce, then making pizza and tiramisu with a chef.
- Chef's hat and apron, all ingredients.
- A bruschetta starter with cherry tomatoes, bread and olive oil.
- One drink, alcoholic or not.
- Eating what you made, and a personalized certificate.
Classes run in English, Italian, French and Spanish. It is not wheelchair accessible, under-18s need a guardian, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead. Transport is not included.
How to choose
- Group size: the €21–€34 classes are large. You will stretch one dough ball; you will not learn fermentation. Fine for kids and groups.
- The oven: ask whether it is wood-fired. A real Naples pizza bakes in 60–90 seconds at 430–480°C; an electric oven at a lower heat makes a different pizza.
- The teacher: the €80 class is taught by a working pizzaiolo and is smaller. That is where you will learn something you can repeat.
- Sorrento classes (€75–€104) are often on farms with a view. The best-reviewed, at La Sorgente farm, is €80 for 3 hours with wine and limoncello (5.0 from 2,284 reviews). Book those if you are based on the coast.
Or just eat pizza
The honest arithmetic: €34 buys five margheritas at Da Michele (€6.50 each, July 2026 menu). If the point is to understand the dough, stand where you can see the oven at a busy pizzeria. The UNESCO listing of the pizzaiuolo's art stresses that the craft is learned by watching in the bottega. Our pizza guide lists counters where you can.
A class is better when you want a hands-on activity for children, a rainy afternoon, or a group booking. Concettina ai Tre Santi, the Sanità pizzeria, runs a private "Masterclass" on request for groups and events; its site gives no price.
Practical tips
- Eat lightly beforehand: you will eat a whole pizza and dessert.
- Tell the operator about allergies when booking; flour is everywhere.
- Pair it with a street food walk on another day rather than the same one.
- The Pizza Village festival sometimes runs short classes; see our Pizza Village page.
