Giardini Poseidon Terme

€50 day, €45 from 12:30 p.m. Season ends October 31, 2026 Bus line 2, 33 min from port

Giardini Poseidon Terme is the largest of Ischia's thermal parks, set on terraces above the beach of Citara, in the municipality of Forio on the island's west coast. Its pools are filled with mineral water from the island's hot springs at a range of temperatures, alongside gardens, a sea-water pool, a private beach, a health and wellness center with treatments, and several places to eat.

The 2026 season runs from April 18 to October 31, every day, with no weekly closing. A day ticket costs €50. From October 1 the park opens 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the afternoon ticket, €45, covers 12:30 to 6 p.m. Children aged 4 to 11 pay half and under-4s go free, but under-12s are not allowed in the thermal area. You pay a €5 cash deposit for the wristband, refunded when you leave.

An evening walk in the gardens, with no access to the pools, costs €8 between 5:30 and 6 p.m. from October 1. Getting there

From Naples, take a boat to Ischia Porto: Caremar's hydrofoil from Molo Beverello costs €21.60 and takes about 1 hour 5 minutes; its ferry from Calata Porta di Massa costs €14.80 and takes 1 hour 30 to 1 hour 45 minutes. From Pozzuoli, Caremar's ferry costs €11.20.

At Ischia Porto, catch EAV line 2, which runs Ischia Porto-Casamicciola-Lacco Ameno-Forio-Citara (Giardini Poseidon). On the timetable from September 15, 2026, buses leave Ischia Porto every 15 to 30 minutes from 8:10 a.m. and take 33 minutes to Citara. A single ride costs €1.70 and a day ticket €5.10. Line 1 toward Sant'Angelo also serves the Forio area.

See our Ischia page for the island and the ferries guide for boats.

How the day works

  • Wristband. You get it at the entrance against a €5 cash deposit and return it on the way out.
  • Pools. Move between them rather than soaking for long in the hottest. Bathing caps are compulsory, and the pools are emptied and cleaned daily, so you must leave them at least 30 minutes before closing.
  • Beach. Citara's beach is part of the park, with sea swimming as a change from the pools.
  • Food. The park has a restaurant, a self-service snack bar by the sea and a wine grotto, all open during the season.
  • Treatments. The health center sells massages and mud treatments, many as packages with a day ticket.

Bring flip-flops, a swimsuit, a cap, sunscreen and cash for the deposit.

Who it is for, and who should skip it

Worth it: couples and adults staying on Ischia for a few days, who want one day of doing nothing in warm water with a view. In October the sea cools but the thermal pools do not, which is the point of coming late in the season.

Skip it: families whose children are under 12 and want the hot pools, since they are not admitted to the thermal area; visitors after October 31, when the park is closed for the winter; and day-trippers from Naples on a budget. From Naples, a day here costs about €93 per adult in hydrofoil fares and admission, and on the 8:55 a.m. Caremar hydrofoil you reach the park at about 10:45 a.m. at best. If history interests you more than hot water, spend the day at the Castello Aragonese instead.

When to go in autumn

October weekdays are quieter than weekends. Arrive at 9 a.m. for a full day, or take the €45 afternoon ticket from 12:30 p.m. if you come on a morning boat from Naples. The park closes at 6 p.m. from October 1, and line 2 back to Ischia Porto takes about 35 minutes. On Caremar's timetable for October 8, 2026, the last hydrofoil from Ischia to Naples left at 4:25 p.m.; the ferries at 7:40 and 8:20 p.m. are the realistic way back after a full park day. Alilauro and SNAV add other options.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a day at Giardini Poseidon?

€50 for a full day and €45 for an afternoon ticket, which runs from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. from October 1. Children aged 4 to 11 pay half and under-4s go free. There is a €5 cash deposit for the wristband.

When does Giardini Poseidon close for the season?

The 2026 season runs from April 18 to October 31. From October 1 the park is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Can children use the thermal pools at Poseidon?

No. The park does not admit children under 12 to the thermal area. They can use two dedicated pools, the beach and the sea-water pool.

How do I get to Giardini Poseidon by bus?

From Ischia Porto, take EAV line 2 to Citara (Giardini Poseidon), about 33 minutes, every 15 to 30 minutes. A single ticket costs €1.70.

Is Giardini Poseidon worth it in late October?

For adults staying on Ischia, yes: the thermal pools are warm whatever the sea temperature, and weekdays are quiet. The drawbacks are shorter hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from October 1, a higher chance of rain, and the season ending on October 31. Check the forecast and pick a dry day.

What should I bring to Giardini Poseidon?

A swimsuit, a bathing cap (compulsory in the pools), flip-flops, sunscreen and €5 in cash for the wristband deposit. Towels, bathrobes and private cabins can be hired on site for €5, €15 and €10 respectively.

Do I need to book Giardini Poseidon in advance?

No. Tickets are sold online and at the ticket office, and entry to the park itself cannot be reserved. Reserved sunbeds, called Exclusive spots, are sold separately.
