The simplest Capri boat tour starts on Capri. At Marina Grande, where the ferries arrive, two local companies run boats around the island: Motoscafisti di Capri, the island's boatmen's cooperative since 1955, sells its island tour with a Blue Grotto stop for €25 online; Laser Capri leaves from Pier 23 about every 30 minutes between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The trip takes about two hours: the Faraglioni, the lighthouse, sea caves, and a stop at the Blue Grotto for those who want to go in.
The Blue Grotto is never in that price. The state museum site charges €6 entry plus €12 for the rowboat, paid at the cave, and the Grotto closes whenever the sea is rough. Tours from Sorrento (€65–€119) and Naples (€162) add the crossing and, on the better ones, a small boat and swimming stops.

GetYourGuide prices read September 30, 2026. The Lubrense listing says a "Capri landing fee" of €10 is not included; the official contribution in 2026 is €5 per person from April to October, collected with the ferry ticket to the island, so ask the operator what the extra €10 is for.
The do-it-yourself arithmetic
From Naples: Caremar's fast ferry is €21.50 each way (about 57 minutes) and NLG's jet from Molo Beverello €25. Add the €5 landing contribution, the €25 boat and, if it is open, the €18 Grotto. Fast ferry both ways: €43 + €5 + €25 + €18 = €91, against €162 for the Naples tour. The slow Caremar ferry (€14.80) cuts it to €77.
From Sorrento: Caremar's fast ferry is €17.40 each way (22–32 minutes). €34.80 + €5 + €25 + €18 = €82.80, against €119 for the small-boat tour. Here the tour is closer in value: a 12-seat boat, a swim stop and drinks are things the €25 island boat does not offer.

The Blue Grotto problem
- It is optional on every boat and always paid separately: €6 to the state, €12 to the rowers. EU citizens 18–24 pay €2 entry; under-18s enter free.
- It closes in rough sea. The entrance is about a meter high. Motoscafisti say skippers check it every morning at 9 a.m. and post a live open or closed notice on their site.
- Shorter hours off-season: 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. from October 1 to 15; 9 a.m.–2 p.m. from October 16 to March 31.
- Queues: Laser Capri says that if the wait at the Grotto exceeds 45 minutes, the boat returns to port and you can use your ticket on a later departure.
- No refund if only the Grotto is shut (Laser Capri's terms). Refunds are given if the sea cancels the boat itself.

Practical tips
- Go on the first boats of the day, before the day-tour crowds reach the Grotto.
- Take a hat and water: the local boats are open.
- Laser Capri sells tickets without a fixed time; you board the next boat. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before.
- If the sea looks rough from Naples, check the Motoscafisti live Grotto notice before you buy a ferry.
